I can’t accept the fact that after a blink of a life, we’re done forever. I can’t accept the fact that my existence is just a freak accident, every moment leading up to now one lucky roll of the die after another. I can’t accept the fact that we can give credit for paintings to people that we don’t know existed, yet we can’t credit the Creator whose signature lies in the stars at...

Contentment (Riḍā), by Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad →
I was watching this again the other day, and he said things that really struck home. We are such agitated human beings. It is easier to find faults in others and our society than it is to find peace within ourselves. We are constantly judging, and it has come to a point where it is innate—we don’t even realize we’re doing it, but as soon as we look at someone, we have...

If something is polluting your happiness, why the fuck haven’t you removed it from your life yet? Seriously. Complaining does nothing. Stop wasting time and take some responsibility. Empower yourself. If you don’t like something and it can be changed, go ahead and change it. Switching jobs, moving on from a toxic group of friends, or expressing yourself freely can take a smudge of...

So I really like John Green and all that, but the thing is that I was surprised at how seemingly underwhelmed he was to the speculation that the Universe has no edge. I mean, the prospect that the Universe is infinite and also growing completely overwhelms me. I feel like John is Tricia McMillan saying “Oh that’s cool, let’s go on a road (space) trip LOL” and I’m...

What happens if you fall in love with a writer?
karenfelloutofbedagain:
Lots of things might happen. That’s the thing about writers. They’re unpredictable. They might bring you eggs in bed for breakfast, or they might all but ignore you for days. They might bring you eggs in bed at three in the morning. Or they might wake you up for sex at three in the morning. Or make love at four in the afternoon. They might not sleep at all. Or they might...

I finished The Fault in Our Stars today.
I cried continuously for the last 100 pages. I think it’s John’s best book to date, as well as one of my favourites of all time. It was the kind of book that made me long even more to be friends with John and Hank. Holden says it so perfectly: “What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend...
